What we do

The Running Notebook was established as a place where runners of all types can share their personal experience of a particular race or course.  The goal is to give other runners a feeling of what a particular race or course experience was like for you. We have a few guidelines for submissions, but you don't have to stick to them.
The idea is to get a sense of what the whole race experience was like.  The pre-race (parking, registration and the all important bathroom situation), the race itself (how hard it was, flat or hills, hot or cold, a crush of humanity or a few runners, how the crowd was, how the water stops are), post-race (food, drink, festivities, prizes, medals).   Share your experience and help other runners as you do.

2006 St. Patrick's Parade
Corktown Races 4 mile

I have heard that this race in the past has often been very cold, but today it was a spring day, about 60 degrees at race time, which for late risers was a comfortable half past noon.   The races, a 4 mile run and a 1.5 mile walk, had over 1400 runners/walkers.  I overheard a volunteer at the finish line refreshment table they were supposed to prepare for 700 people, but they ended up having a good deal more.  Probably because of the beautiful weather for this time of year.

Running after Antelope

This is an audio story about Scott Carrier's quest to run down an antelope. Carrier's story answers why some of us run. I found this story at This American Life's website, a fantastic audio story site.   There is another short funny story about a boy scout's loosing but valiant battle with nature before the Running after Antelope story. Find out more about the Pronghorn Antelope
